National Disability Insurance Scheme Registered NDIS provider

Using NDIS Funding for Wheelchair Cleaning

We help you understand how our service may relate to your NDIS plan — what we do, what we can provide for your records, and who to ask before you book.

The short version. If your mobility equipment is related to your disability, you may be able to use your NDIS funding towards professional cleaning and maintenance. Whether you can depends on your individual plan — your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or NDIS contact is the right person to confirm that with you.

Using your NDIS funding

If your mobility equipment is related to your disability, you may be able to use your NDIS funding towards professional cleaning and maintenance. The NDIS recognises that regular cleaning and maintenance of assistive technology is important and can help prolong the life of equipment.

Whether our service can be funded will depend on your individual NDIS plan, the type of equipment you have and the funding available to you. NDIS supports must relate to your disability and meet the NDIS reasonable and necessary criteria.

Who to ask before you book

If you are unsure whether you can use your funding, we recommend speaking with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or NDIS contact before booking. They can help you identify the appropriate funding category and confirm whether the service is suitable for your individual circumstances.

Useful questions to put to them:

  • Does professional cleaning and maintenance of my equipment fit within my plan, and under which support?
  • Is there anything you need from the provider before I book — a quote, a service description, or provider details?
  • How would you like the invoice issued?

A written quote or service description can be provided to help that conversation. Just ask.

What we can provide for your records

We can provide an itemised invoice and supporting information about the cleaning and maintenance service, to assist with your records and claiming requirements.

If you are preparing for a plan review, we can also provide information about the condition of your equipment and the cleaning or maintenance it requires.

Specialist equipment care, not household cleaning

A wheelchair, scooter, commode or walker is assistive technology. Like any equipment, it needs looking after to keep working properly and to last as long as it should. Our work is the specialist cleaning and maintenance of disability-related mobility equipment — it is not an ordinary household cleaning service.

That distinction matters. Professional cleaning keeps contact surfaces hygienic, supports infection control, and gives an opportunity to notice wear before it becomes a problem — so the equipment someone depends on for their mobility and independence stays in the condition it should be.

How invoicing works

There is no payment step anywhere on this website, and no card details are ever requested. After the clean is finished, an itemised invoice is issued.

  • Plan-managed: where your plan manager approves the service, the invoice is issued directly to them.
  • Self-managed: the invoice comes to you, and you claim it in the usual way, in line with your own plan.
  • Agency-managed: talk to us first — arrangements vary.
  • Aged care package: your provider can tell you whether equipment cleaning sits within your package.
  • Private: invoiced directly to you. No funding involved, same service.

Please note. The information on this page is general. It is not financial or planning advice, and nothing here guarantees that any particular plan will fund any particular service. Decisions about individual plans and supports rest with the NDIS, and with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or NDIS contact.

NDIS questions

Funding questions, answered

Can I use my NDIS funding for equipment cleaning?

If your mobility equipment is related to your disability, you may be able to use your NDIS funding towards professional cleaning and maintenance. It depends on your individual plan, your disability-related needs, the equipment you use and the funding available to you. NDIS supports must relate to your disability and meet the reasonable and necessary criteria, so the only way to be certain is to ask your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or NDIS contact.

Which part of my plan does it come from?

That is not something we can determine for you, and it varies between plans. Your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or NDIS contact can identify the appropriate funding category for your circumstances. Tell them you are arranging professional cleaning and maintenance of your disability-related mobility equipment, and we can supply a quote or service description if they need one.

I am plan-managed. What happens?

You book as normal. After the clean, an invoice is issued directly to your plan manager with the details they need to process it. You do not pay anything yourself.

I am self-managed. What happens?

The invoice comes to you. You pay it and claim it back through the NDIS portal in the usual way, or claim first and then pay — whichever way you normally work.

I am agency-managed. Can I still book?

Agency-managed arrangements are more restrictive and vary case by case. Get in touch before booking and we will talk through what is possible.

What information does my plan manager need?

Usually the service description, the date, the amount and the provider's details. All of that appears on the invoice. If your plan manager needs anything in a particular format, let us know and it can be adjusted.

Do I need a quote first?

Not normally, since the the cost is confirmed before the work goes ahead. If your plan manager or support coordinator asks for a written quote before approving the service, just ask and one will be sent.

What if my plan does not cover it?

You are welcome to book privately at the same price. Nothing changes about the service itself.
